Our Application Process
Step 1 : Application
Please complete the Adoption Application . There is no fee to apply and the application is good for any of our adoptable cats.
Step 2 : Home safety check
A volunteer will complete a home safety check over Zoom or another virtual platform after your initial application is reviewed.
Step 3 : Meet and greet
If everything is in order with the home check, we will then invite you to meet the cat via video meet and/or in-person visit. Most cats are located in foster homes in Brooklyn or Queens.
Step 4: Make it official
Should you decide to move forward following the meet and greet, the team will complete your reference check and give final clearance. You will then receive the adoption contract, which includes instructions to pay a $150 fee per cat. This fee supports our rescue work and medical costs including vaccinations, testing, and spay/neuter. The fee can be paid online here.
Step 5: Bring ’em home
When you have made it official, you will be able to take your new cat home at your earliest convenience. We request that the cats are transported by car only, as public transportation is extremely stressful for them. We will be there to support you as your new family member acclimates and meets other animals in your home.
Please see Cat Parent Prep & Welcome Home Guide for helpful information on your newly adopted cat.
We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process!
Featured Adoptable: Renee
Renee has a Cinderella story, and we want this wonderful tuxedo girl to continue that story by finding a loving forever home. Renee started life on the streets, where she was spotted suffering, dirty, and not grooming. But after being brought indoors and given healthy food, proper medication, and a lot of TLC she is doing great and loving life!
Renee is a lovely cat companion and appreciates all the love she gets. She’s gentle, mellow, and sweet. She is easy to care for, and she doesn’t mind being left alone. You would find a true-blue friend in her. Renee is spayed and vaccinated. She is FIV+, but that shouldn’t be a deterrent to adoption. She can live a normal, healthy life. Will you open your heart to Renee and give her story a truly happy next chapter?
Welcome!

Frequently Asked Questions
hidden
How Long Does the Process Take?
We are committed to getting our pets into their furrever home as quickly as possible. However, we are entirely volunteer run so response times may vary depending on volunteer availability. Once your application is submitted, you will typically hear back from us in under a week. The next steps usually involve scheduling times with volunteers and your pet’s foster parents. For that reason, each step can take a few days.
How Much Does Adopting Cost?
There is a $150 adoption fee per cat and kitten, which covers part of our cost for the vaccinations, tests and spay/neuter, while allowing us to continue rescuing animals in need.
Will I need Additional Veterinarian Services?
Our cats and kittens have been tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed at least once, and received age appropriate vaccinations. You may need to work with your family veterinarian to complete the deworming and vaccination series.
We spay and neuter all of our cats and kittens. However, there are circumstances where this may take place after adoption. This will be disclosed up front, and arrangements made for surgery at a future date, using a designated For Animals veterinarian. You may choose to use your family veterinarian at your own cost, but must provide proof of spay/neuter for our records.
